Northern Wisconsin Fishing Vacations - A Great Family Tradition!
Northern Wisconsin tourism was borne from fishermen making their way to the pristine waters of the Cable & Hayward, Wisconsin Areas of Northwest Wisconsin. The tradition continues today on dozens of lakes including the greatest of the Great Lakes, Lake Superior.
Experience a world class angling experience on any of the numerous lakes surrounding Hayward and Cable, Wisconsin for muskies, bass, walleye, northern pike, crappie, and bluegill; as well as marquee game fishing on Lake Superior near Bayfield, Wisconsin for Chinook and Coho salmon. Whether patiently casting for the new world record musky or quietly fishing off the dock waiting for one of the kids' bobbers to go under, this Area offers a wide array of rewarding fishing adventures.
Lake Namakagon near Cable, WI is one of three lakes in Wisconsin managed as a trophy musky lake and regularly produces 40+ inchers. Progressive new regulations let the novice to expert angler bring some of the abundant walleye to the fry pan! Lake Owen has walleye, too, and is known for its outstanding bass and northern fishery. Crappies and panfish are plentiful in all the waters, including the many wilderness lakes which are accessible only by foot and best fished by bellyboat.
The Hayward Area offers some world famous musky and walleye lakes including Lac Courte Oreilles, Grindstone Lake, Nelson Lake and the 17,000 acre Chippewa Flowage. Many of the lakes will also produce quality bass action as well as crappie and bluegill fishing.
Ice fishing is a favorite pastime of residents as well as vacationers in the area. Ice fishing equipment is available for rent. Or you may wish to experience charter fishing on Lake Superior for Chinook and Coho salmon, an easy drive from the Cable & Hayward Areas.
